"What are you waiting for, the time is now."

I fell in love with Columbus immediately, friendly people, interesting variety of architecture and three places for live theater in the downtown and so many more opportunities to be had in Columbus. It is a beautiful town, with many small beautifully planted small and large parks which I love.
So, I started Writers' Ink in 1996 toward the end of the year. I placed an ad in The Columbus Dispatch, Sunday issue, it was free, and very soon 5 people contacted me so we set up a meeting at my apartment's club house. We decided we wanted a monthly newsletter, and for our group to be a place to share our work and to learn about writing and authors and all like subject matters. You;ve heard the old saw about one bad apple spoiling the whole basket of apples, well that's what happened after our group had been meeting for some months. One ended up leaving the group forever due to the bad apple, and I requested the bad apple to not return to the group but we became friends. Writers' Ink grew by the Writer's Digest Book Club pen pal program and the internet to well over 120 members over the years. 16 years later Writers' Ink is still going strong and we have closer to 100 members these days and usually 9 to 12 or 14 at the monthly meetings. I instituted having guest speakers in the last 8 or so years, which has proved to be a very popular idea. We have a guest speaker at every meeting for the last few years and open mic at the end of every meeting with refreshments. We have open mic at most meetings for members and all attending to share their work and writing news. For me to truly pursue my personal writing dreams, please keep reading....
