She was a most unusual person,. her faith in people,. her pursuing the life she wanted, needed and pursuing her dreams; she was bigger than life and so inspiring to me.
She joined our group several years ago and after knowing her for several months, close to a year, she became friend and really listened to what I wanted and I shared the play I had finished writing about multiple personalities, We-A Story, I call it. She really was interested in the play and wanted to help me get it out in the public, produced as a real life play. Finally, at a meeting, I told everyone including her, that she was inspiring ot me and now I could admit I had dreams and could reach out to make them come true. I was in my 50's when I told the group I had had dreams when young but they ahd been destroyed and kind of knocked out of me and I had stopped believing my dreams could become real. But this gal had awakened my drams of writing and being an auth or again and now I was going to pursue these dreams. She also talked with me about our starting our own publishing company. After several more months, she found it necessary for her dreams to move away from Columbus to a place where her dreeams could come truer more easily. So she and her love, left town. I pursued the publishing company and in another 7 or so years Writers' Ink Authors published our first book, Just Pen And Paper. 15 Writers' Ink members and me embarked on this journey, two died, but the rest of us saw this dream through.
You ask what about my own writing dreams? In 2013 I was 64 and writing books for kids and the next year I was 65 and published two books for elementary aged kids and worked on a third which is about ready to be published. These are write and draw books where the kids are the authors and they learn, write and draw about themselves, make a book of poems and make their own book about whatever they wish. I'm now working on two series for other children's books and have found an illustrator and two others who are helping me with the series for 3 to 6 year olds about two puppets in a first grade classroom. Life is good!
I'm also a member of WVU, Writers Village University, online courses for just one yearly fee in all sorts of genres of writing.
It takes a long time to pursue dreams, but if you keep working at your dreams and making contacts as you go along, your dreams can start to flower as mine have.
Never stop dreaming and pursuing what your heart tells you is who you really are...
